Junior Cricket in North Shore

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—I recently had the pleasure of joining the Minister for Sport, Alister Henskens, at North Sydney Oval to announce the next round of Active Kids Vouchers. Some of our young female cricketers from the North Sydney District Junior Cricket Club invited the Minister and me to join in a friendly game of cricket. It is truly inspiring to see our young local female cricketers' passion. Watching them stand out on the pitch smashing the ball for what would clearly be sixes in any given game was fantastic. I want to acknowledge the North Sydney District Junior Cricket Club President Karl Riseborough and Director of Women's Cricket Michelle Goszko for their incredible work and the passion they invest in the club and our young cricketers. My electorate of North Shore has a vibrant cricket community reaching across all levels of the sport. In the Sydney North region, of which my community is a part, we have 9,344 junior male cricketers and 1636 junior female cricketers. There is clearly a great love for cricket in my community, and I look forward to seeing it continue to grow and flourish.
