Update on Cremorne Point Wharf Operations

Published on 15 July 2022

Cremorne Point Wharf was recently closed following structural damage to the roof during extreme weather. Transport for NSW have been assessing the damage and working on a plan to ensure the wharf is safe to recommence services.

We are now in a position to share next steps:

  • The roof of the wharf will need to be removed and this process will commence next week. This is a significant operation and timing is weather dependent. In order to minimise safety risks and disruption, work will occur at night.
  • Daylight ferry services will resume once the roof is removed and the wharf is made safe. We are optimistic that these services will return within the next two weeks.
  • All other services will recommence once electrical work can be safely undertaken and new lighting is installed.
  • The long term replacement of the roof canopy will occur in the coming months - with advance notice to the community.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty and disruption. I recognise that the sudden closure has been inconvenient, and has had an impact particularly on the Cremorne Point Wharf Kiosk. I can confirm that their rent has been waived by Transport for NSW for the entire period of the closure, and I know that they appreciate the ongoing community support during this time.
