Jessie Street Luncheon

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—I recognise the Year 10 students of Mosman High in early June who attended the Annual Jessie Street Trust Luncheon here at the Parliament of New South Wales. The Jessie Street Trust Annual Luncheon originated from a committee that came together to celebrate the centenary of one of the foremost but relatively unknown 20th-century Australian activists, Jessie Street. The trust continues with the tradition of awarding grants to assist activities Jessie championed, including the rights of women and indigenous people. This year, the fundraising focused on the First Nation's Voice to Parliament and featured distinguished guest speakers Professor Tom Calma AO, Rachel Perkins and Teela Reid. I thank Jessie Street Trust and the Mosman Reconciliation Group for sponsoring Catherine Simpson, Phoebe Cunningham, Katie McPherson and Amelia Ottaviano, Year 10 Mosman High representatives, a place at the luncheon. It was an amazing opportunity for these young girls to attend and hear about the amazing work that the Jessie Street Trust does and how they can put some of that work into practice in our own local community.
