Senior Scout Leader Named Mosman Citizen of the Year

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker, on Australia Day at the Mosman Citizen ceremony, local Scout Leader Matthew Brownlie was named as the 2024 Mosman Citizen of the Year. Matthew was recognised for his many years of service volunteering with the 1st Balmoral Scout Group where has served as leader since 2008 and has played in key roles such as the local annual Sirius Cup Regatta and a range of camps, hikes, and canoeing expeditions across Australia and internationally. It is estimated that he has completed more than 80 camps as Scout Leader, which totals 250 nights in a tent, run more than 500 scout nights and logged more than 450 hours in a canoe. It certainly is no mean feat especially when you consider that Matthew was responsible for a group of young Scouts. I want to extend my congratulations to Matthew for being awarded as the 2024 Mosman Citizen of the Year and for his tireless dedication and devotion to our local Scouts. Congratulations Matthew.
