New Living Seawall Installed at Mosman

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—The new Living Seawall installation at Ellery Park on the Spit was recently unveiled by the team at Sydney Institute of Marine Science and Mosman Council. We know that structures such as seawalls, pilings, and pontoons offer shoreline protection and ability for recreational activities, but offer little assistance to our marine environment, particularly in Sydney Harbour. The team at SIMS are doing amazing work, introducing these panels to improve ecological sustainability. They mimic natural features such as rock pools and crevices, allowing for a variety of marine life to thrive in otherwise urban environments. I congratulate the team at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science for their continued dedication to restoring our marine habitats, and look forward to seeing their Living Seawalls program expand across our local community.
